Don't Let Fear Stop Your Peacock Moment
Have you ever felt crippling self-doubt or fear of failure right before launching into something you've poured your heart into?
Even gospel legend Kirk Franklin admits he experienced this before recording his sophomore album. After the wild success of his debut with hits like "The Reason Why We Sing," he felt immense pressure to deliver again. He confessed to this during the live recording fearing he would be a one-album wonder.
Can you imagine if he had let that fear stop him? We would have missed over 25 years of his musical brilliance and undeniable anointing. Each of us faces fears and self-doubt at some point, it may not be creating a new album (or maybe it is), launching a business, or starting a new job. But how many dreams and talents remain untapped because we allow the fear of failure to paralyze us?
I even saw the incredible evolution of Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter as a live performer and producer. Rewatch her early tours like The Beyonce Experience Live vs her visionary Renaissance production - the growth is staggering. With each era, she has honed her craft as a performer and artistic director creating whole worlds of sound and vision. She didn't let herself remain stagnant or complacent due to fear.
This is the essence of the peacock metaphor. When a peacock fans out its brilliant feathers, it is doing what it was created to do - fully inhabiting its unique glory and letting its beauty astonish. A peacock doesn't think "What if someone doesn't like how I look?" or “What if they don’t oooo and ahhhhh like they did before?”. It just spreads its splendor shamelessly.
We all have an inner peacock - our talents, gifts, abilities, ideas, art, or businesses. But how often does fear, self-doubt, or feeling like a scattered mess prevent us from fanning those feathers for the world?
Don't let your fears produce a creativity block. Make this the year you shed all insecurities, distractions, and limiting beliefs. Strut onto the stage of your dreams with all the fabulous flair and confidence of a peacock unfurling its magnificence. The world is waiting for your unique brilliance to take center stage.
Tell me below what you are committing to as we enter the second half of 2024.
